In this 2 hour session you will be playing to defend your DUPR rating. You will be playing others with a similar rating. All matches must be recorded at the end of each match. There will be a clipboard where you can write them down or you can enter them into the DUPR app on your phone. This is essentially an open play but a little more serious and a great way to build your DUPR rating.

FAQ:

Which matches impact my rating more? 

• Tournament, club, and league matches impact your rating more than self-posted scores. For club, league, and tournament matches, the rating points “up for grabs” each match is 0.10.
• For rec play it is half as much at 0.05, but that is for each game.
• For example, if you are a huge underdog in a tournament match and win, the most you could move up is 0.10.

What about scoring, how does that change things? 

• In most matches, only the win/loss result matters and the score does not affect how much you move up or down, as long as all players are rated.
• The exception is, if any player is not rated, the match scores and ratings of other players are used to give the new player an initial rating without affecting their rating.

What if I’m unrated and I play against other unrated players?

• New players are given a rating based on their performance in their first few matches. We use the scores and ratings of the known players to make our best guess of the new player's ability once they log enough matches!
• These matches are used solely to rate the unrated player(s), and thus will not affect the ratings of the rated players. These matches show “Initialization” in the app.
